History

In recent years, TUI Group has developed into one of the world's leading tourism groups. The journey began in December 1968 when several German tour operators joined forces to form Touristik Union International. Here we have summarised the most important milestones:
1968
'Touristik Union International' (TUI) is formed by merging several German tour operators.
70s
Expansion of the hotel portfolio with the launch of the Robinson brand and participation in various vacation hotel operators such as Iberotel, Grecotel and RIU.
1973
Owners Abroad was founded in 1973 by Neil Scott, a former London taxi driver, ice cream truck operator and movie extra, operating as a travel agent.
80s
Development of various European source markets. TUI establishes itself as the one-stop shop in Europe for vacations and travel.
1997
TUI becomes part of the industrial conglomerate Preussag AG.
2014
TUI AG and TUI Travel PLC merge to create the fully integrated TUI Group, consolidating operations under one brand.
