What are TUI customers’ favourite travel destinations? The tourism group has published its new TUI Holiday Atlas for Spring 2019, sharing interesting insights into the holiday decisions taken by TUI customers in several European countries. We are presenting the particular characteristics of some of these holiday destinations in TUI’s Easter Special “Spring Highlights”:
Marrakech, also known as the “Red City”, is located in southwestern Morocco and showcases colourful diversity. Brimming with mosques, palaces and a sprawling series of winding alleys in the Old Town, its many highlights for holidaymakers also include the bazaars offering spices and herbs.
Many travellers visit mystical Marrakech at Easter. At an average temperature of 18°C, the climate is very pleasant during the Easter period. During the month of April, travellers benefit from around nine hours of sunshine a day, with around six rainy days.
Typical Moroccan dishes include tajine (a traditional stew), classic couscous dishes as well as brochettes: beef, lamb, chicken or minced meat grilled on skewers.
The city’s highlights include Bahia Palace, surrounded by gardens with banana trees, orangeries and fountains. The palace in the southern part of the Medina leaves a lasting impression on visitors, both due to its architecture but also its richly decorated rooms with elaborate carvings, intricate tiles and its patios with marble floors, which are among the city’s must-see attractions.
TUI’s portfolio includes eight hotels in Morocco. Moreover, TUI Care Foundation has teamed up with the Dutch organisation Pikala to create a bike project offering 90 young Moroccans vocational training to become a bike mechanic or bike tour guide in order to open up prospects for a better future for young people in tourism.
