RIU returns to Mauritius with two new hotels

  • Riu Turquoise, a family hotel, and Riu Palace Mauritius, an Adults Only hotel, make up the destination’s RIU complex with comprehensive, varied offerings
  • Both hotels will be RIU’s most energy-efficient hotels thanks to the installation of nearly 2,500 solar panels

RIU Hotels & Resorts returns to Mauritius with a bang with two new hotels in the foothills of the famous Le Morne Brabant. Riu Palace Mauritius is the first RIU Palace hotel opening in this destination. It is a four-star superior Adults Only hotel with the new and exclusive Elite Club service. The four-star Riu Turquoise, in turn, is a hotel ideal for a family holiday thanks to its wide variety of services and dining options.

RIU’s project consisted of demolishing the two previous hotels to build its offerings in Mauritius, a destination it added to its portfolio in 2014, from the ground up. RIU is currently the only Spanish chain operating in Mauritius. Both hotels have a total of 700 rooms and offer RIU’s exclusive 24-hour All-Inclusive service. They also are the chain’s most energy efficient hotels thanks to the 2,418 solar panels installed on their roofs. The hotels are practically self-sufficient, as the solar panels will occasionally be able to supply 100% of the electricity the hotels need and will cover a significant portion of the supply at other times of day.

With 310 rooms, Riu Palace Mauritius promises an unparalleled experience for anyone looking for the utmost comfort and exclusive services in a spectacular natural environment. Its guests have access to a wide variety of high-quality culinary options at its main “La Riviere” restaurant with a terrace where guests can enjoy meals outdoors; Asian restaurant “Kaori” and the gourmet “Krystal.” The hotel also has five bars notably including “Capuchino” patisserie and ice cream shop, where guests can enjoy the authentic flavour of a good coffee and Pepe’s Food grill, where customers will find a wide variety of snacks. Outside the hotel, there are two pools, one with a swim-up bar. Entertainment is guaranteed thanks to the extensive day and evening entertainment programme.

With its Elite Club service, it offers the opportunity to book a luxury experience with rooms in a privileged location. Elite customers will enjoy a welcome gift, an exclusive pool area, reserved area on the beach, and an exclusive Elite Club restaurant.

With 390 rooms, Riu Turquoise was designed to offer both families and couples an unforgettable experience and extensive and outstanding dining options. Guests will be able to enjoy the delicacies of the main restaurant "La Gaulette”, Indian restaurant "Bangalore" and the Steakhouse, for grill lovers. The latter two are also available for guests staying at the RIU Palace hotel. They also have five bars to choose from: the lobby bar "Savanne” the saloon "Sega", shared with RIU Palace Mauritius, the Sports Bar, the pool bar "Lagoon" and "Pepe’s Food" grill.

Equipped to offer fun and entertainment at all ages, the hotel has two main pools, a third with a bar and children’s pool for the youngest members of the family who also have access to RIULand kid’s club.

Mauritius is a natural paradise and a cultural melting pot, making the country a dream to discover for visitors. Water sports are also another major draw for the destination and that is why RIU has maintained its successful partnerships with Scuba Caribe and ION Club Mauritius so guests can discover the coast and ocean with the former and learn to or go kitesurfing, windsurfing, or surfing with the latter.
