- World Travel Awards choose winners on Mallorca
- “TUI has had the most positive return to travel“
Europe's premier travel brands have been revealed at the World Travel Awards (WTA) European Gala Ceremony on Mallorca. The brightest stars of the hospitality industry aligned to discover who amongst them had won the ultimate accolades in tourism. The winner in the category "Europe's leading charter airline" is TUI Airline. The five airlines from the United Kingdom, Scandinavia, Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany were awarded for the second time within one week.
"For our more than 8,000 colleagues at TUI Airline, the award is a great recognition of their daily work. Travelling has never been as popular as it has been in the last few months and we have rarely had so many challenges on the ground and in the air. The award will be a great incentive to improve our service even further and to offer our guests the best travel experience not only on holiday, but also on the way there and back again”, said Marco Ciomperlik, Chief Airline Officer of TUI Group.
“As the Tourism industry emerges from the pandemic, the thirst for consumer travel has never been greater! Tui has had the most positive return to travel and continues with the excellence of service, Congratulations”, said Graham Cooke, Founder WTA. Evidence is reflected in the annual voting figures. This time, a record 2.3 million votes were cast, with more people taking part than in any other year of WTA's 29-year history, representing a huge vote of confidence for the recovery of the travel and tourism industry.
WTA was established in 1993 to acknowledge excellence across all sectors of the tourism industry. Today, the WTA brand is recognised globally as the ultimate hallmark of quality, with winners setting the benchmark to which all others aspire.
At the end of September, TUI received two popular World Airline Awards from Skytrax: TUI Airways was named Best Leisure Airline in the UK and TUI fly received the corresponding award for Germany.
