TUI participates in first ‘UN Virtual Worlds Day’ conference

TUI participated in the 1st UN Virtual Worlds Day, a conference on the role of Virtual Worlds and the Metaverse in promoting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Our tech colleague Michele Zilli, Principal Engineer – Data & Innovation at TUI Group, was on site and discussed with representatives from politics and business the transformative power of technologies such as virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR) and blockchain – especially with regard to achieving the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). At a panel discussion on ‘Digital Solutions – Real Impact: Leveraging Virtual Worlds for Global Change’, Michele discussed with representatives from the World Bank, the European Commission and the tech company Nvidia, among others. The conference showed that immersive environments can connect people worldwide, facilitate learning and promote collaboration.
