What are TUI customers’ favourite travel destinations? The tourism group has published its new TUI Holiday Atlas for Spring 2019, sharing interesting insights into the holiday decisions taken by TUI customers in several European countries. We are presenting the particular characteristics of some of these holiday destinations in TUI’s Easter Special “Spring Highlights”:
Lanzarote is the northernmost of the seven Canary Islands in the Atlantic Ocean. Dark rock formations and black sand beaches contrast with bright white houses and beaches and turquoise water.
Lanzarote is a popular holiday destination at Easter. During the week before Easter, the »Semana Santa«, many processions are organised with sacred symbols and religious statues carried through the streets in many villages and cities across the island.
At temperatures between 14°C and 22°C and one rainy day per month, the climate is another good reason to spend for travellers to spend their Easter holiday in Lanzarote.
Traditional dishes include above all soups and stews: »Potaje«, a simple vegetable soup, but also more hearty stews with beef or pork such as »puchero« and »rancho canario« are typical of Lanzarote.
Timanfaya National Park, the island’s volcanic heart, is a must-see attraction. The national park, which emerged from volcano eruptions, features an impressive crater landscape. However, Jameos del Agua is also well worth visiting: An open-air cave with a restaurant, swimming pool and even a concert hall.
TUI offers holidaymakers the opportunity to discover the island, either from one of is hotels or from a cruise ship. TUI Care Foundation has also launched activities in the Canaries: It supports a project to preserve vineyards in La Geria, promoting organic wine-making in the island and offering meaningful employment opportunities for people with disabilities for the first time.
