Ronja Jakobsson, Junior Communication Manager Sweden, shares her insights from a Swedish tradition that might be a surprise for you:
“Christmas celebrations in Sweden have elements from pagan, Christian, Nordic and Germanic traditions from the Viking Age onwards. With Sweden's Christianization around the middle of the 12th century, the Christian and pagan traditions began to mix. But maybe the strangest tradition is that almost all swedes, since 1960, gather around the TV at 15:00 on Christmas Eve to watch Donald Duck and snippets of Disney films from the past. Every year there is a new host to lead us through the same content with the exception of one new Disney film which is a surprise, last year it was Soul, I wonder what it will be this year…”
