TUI is convinced that the "Blockchain" Technology will fundamentally change the internet. With Blockchain, data and access rights can be distributed in a fast, easy, secure and fully transparent manner. TUI sees a lot of opportunities within that technology not only for the Group itself but also for the holiday experience of the guest. A TUI team attended the recent conference of partner "Plug and Play Technology Centre" in Sunnyvale, California. Talks were held with start-up companies which are active in Blockchain as well as artificial intelligence. Their innovative solutions have the potential to further improve the holiday experience of the guest. In particular the ideas based on Blockchain provide enormous opportunities for TUI – for example through increased efficiencies in managing hotel capacities as TUI plans to transfer its hotel inventory fully in to the Blockchain. In future, also third parties would be able to use it, especially the guest him- or herself. Not only could rooms be sold directly to guests but also services like excursions or wellness offerings.
