My name is Caroline Helle and I’m 26 years old. I studied International Tourism Management in Worms at the University of Applied Sciences. My first assignment was as a Project Assistent in the TUI Airline Group Operations Center, based at the airport office in Hanover. The different fields of flight planning, dispatching, training, flight monitoring and the whole navigation process are very inspiring insights for me and my further development.
After two months of observing and absorbing as much information as possible my manager gave me the valuable task of becoming a Project Manager. This task was the beginning of a very meaningful experience for me: Coordinating all the stakeholders, leading the kick-off meeting as well as weekly catchups was very challenging but also very educational for me. Seeing the progress and my project becoming reality made me really proud.
Besides my daily work in the office, I had the great opportunity to attend the Senior Leadership Team conference in Rhodes where me and the other Graduates had the chance to present on stage. Another highlight of my first month at TUI was my familiarization flight to Sal (Cap Verde). It was simply breathtaking to be part of the whole turnaround and to get all the new insights!
My biggest learning within the role was that communication with your team as well as trusting their abilities is everything. Getting to know the strengths of each team member and to plan resources right is so enriching for my personal development here at TUI fly. Therefore, I believe this first assignment was the best choice for me to start my graduate programme. I’m very sad to leave my team but I’m also very excited for my upcoming tasks within TUI Airline. A huge thank you to my team and everyone who made this experience that great.
