The TUI Care Foundation was delighted to accept a special invitation last weekend from German Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, to join the prestigious Citizens’ Festival (Bürgerfest) at Schloss Bellevue in Berlin.
The event celebrated the work of those involved in the charitable sector in Germany with the theme of ‘Committed to making a difference!’. The festivities began on Friday afternoon, when Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier greeted special guests, including Thomas Ellerbeck, Chairman of the TUI Care Foundation’s Board of Trustees.
The TUI Care Foundation showcased its work to the Federal President on Saturday via an interactive world map and inspired guests and the younger generation at its booth with an array of project related information and activities. The event also included live music, theatre performances and discussion rounds at Bellevue Palace, the official residence of the German Head of State.
The event was a wonderful opportunity for the TUI Care Foundation to recognise specially selected colleagues from TUI who make a difference to their communities through their involvement in the voluntary sector. The 20 TUI colleagues selected to attend the event also included colleagues who volunteered as mentors in the TUI Care Foundation Tourism Recovery Programme.
