“I have always had a great love for Mallorca and, especially after my work assignment to Palma as part of Global 360 – a TUI initiative designed to give employees an insight into other markets – this love has grown.
When I heard about the TUI WORKWIDE opportunity, I decided to move my home office to Palma and use the COVID remote working time wisely. As it was important for me to discover Spanish life, I rented an apartment in the old town of Palma from November to February (30 days in 2021 and 30 days in 2022) as well as a place to work in a co-working office where I met many different people from all over the world. The co-working office organised after-work events and a Christmas party where I met people from other offices in Palma and even TUI colleagues.
It is important for me to mention that I covered all costs by myself. I was not paid for the flight, the accommodation or the co-working office. It was a personal investment for my individual development.
Privately, I took part in many language exchange events where expats came together and where I met many exciting people. In some cases, I also made real friends here.
The cooperation with my colleagues in Hanover was great during this time. I had a good internet connection at all times and was in lively exchange with them.
In summary, I can say that the time in Palma was incredibly valuable for me, because in addition to my daily work, I made inspiring contacts, got to know other cultures, improved my language skills and benefitted from a better quality of life.
