Broadway is calling: Second Riu Plaza opens in New York

RIU, TUI Group's long-standing joint venture partner, has just opened the hotel Riu Plaza Manhattan Times Square in New York City. Just like its predecessor, this hotel is a new build and has a highly desirable location in the heart of Manhattan, surrounded by the most famous theatres on Broadway and just a stone’s throw from Times Square.

“Today we’ve taken a very exciting step, once again overcoming the great challenge of building a hotel from scratch in one of the world’s most competitive cities. I couldn’t be any prouder of the team behind this project”, says Luis Riu, CEO of RIU Hotels & Resorts.

The Riu Plaza Manhattan Times Square has 47 floors and 656 rooms. The hotel's location close to Broadway is emphasised with architectural details, interior design and artwork. Inspired by the musical "The Phantom of the Opera", the lobby is decorated with giant masks that immerse guests in the world of the theatre as soon as they arrive.

With the Riu Plaza Manhattan Times Square, RIU is further expanding its range of Plaza city hotels. The nine hotels are located in metropolises of tourist interest: in addition to New York, these include Madrid, Panama City, Guadalajara in Mexico, Berlin, Dublin, Miami and San Francisco. Further new openings are planned in London and Toronto.
