The vacation season in Greece begins today with TUI fly flight X3 4106 from Hanover to Crete. Other flights from Frankfurt, Stuttgart Duesseldorf, Nuremberg and Munich will land on the same day. Sebastian Ebel, TUI Group CFO, was on site and said in an interview (ZDF, German interview) "Summer vacations on the Greek islands and the Peloponnese can start again from today. This is another milestone on our way to safe and responsible travel in Europe. Vacations on the Mediterranean Sea and Greek hospitality are again particularly in demand this year."
Vacation start in Greece
As of today, the popular holiday desination is welcoming guests again.
As of June 1, 24 Greek regions on the mainland and islands with more than 4,500 hotels are in the TUI program. Particularly popular: the six clubs of Robinson and Magic Life as well as the almost 40 brand hotels of TUI Blue, TUI Kids Club and TUI Suneo. "Last year, Greece already successfully demonstrated that safe vacations can go hand in hand with high health standards and unique vacation experiences. We are excellently prepared for the summer of 2021 and the coordination with our local hotel partners and the Greek authorities is close and very good," Sebastian Ebel praises the partner destination Greece.
"With the start of travel to Greece, the outlook for the summer makes us optimistic. The good vaccination progress, the prospect of a uniform proof of immunity in the EU and the recently adjusted entry requirements in Germany additionally boost demand. Based on these developments, we expect business to increasingly recover in the coming weeks. With our own fleet, we are focused on Spain, Greece, Portugal and Cyprus, where we have numerous strategically important and owned hotel capacities," adds Ebel.
