What do you enjoy most in your job with TUI in Croatia?
People here are so genuine and friendly. Every day brings something new, a new challenge or a new friend or a new place. I feel like I work and live on holiday. I am also lucky to have a great team and enjoy working with colleagues from all over the world. It's like a work family.
What is special about Makarska?
In Makarska you’ll find the Biokovo National Park on one side and the stunning Adriatic Coast on the other. Also, Croatia is home to a huge number of UNESCO World Heritage Sites as well as some stunning national parks including Krka, Plitvice and Mijlet. Whether you like beautiful places, walking along coastal paths, trekking in the mountains, swimming in the sea, relaxing in the sun with a cocktail, beautiful food and wine or learning about new cultures and history – there is something for everyone.
Which beach would you recommend in Makarska?
Mala Duba beach is my personal favourite as it's away from the tourists and a more quiet beach for local people. You can just focus on where you are and listen to the waves. Located not far from Zivogosce, this beach is fairly easy to access and offers a couple of small local restaurants where you can enjoy lunch on the beach front.
What local food should visitors try in Makarska?
Croatia is perfect for those who love fish! Grilled mackerel cooked over the fire with freshly picked tomatoes soaked in balsamic oil is my personal favourite dish. It’s simple yet perfect and the flavours are amazing. Also, grilled octopus salads with pure olive oil are very delicious. Trying the black cuttlefish risotto is a must as well.
What is the best experience in your region that no visitor should miss?
I would always advice guests to choose the “Dubrovnik Sunset“ excursion. Try local wines and snacks and go to the old town with its cobbled streets when the cruise ships start leaving. You will get the most incredible sunset view. Embrace the history and stories you will be told by your guide and which will help you understand your surroundings and appreciate this beautiful place.
… that Croatia has over 1,200 islands, isles and inlets?
